OUR LEADERS |
Pastors Patricia and Mack Bowden are both Community Service Chaplains and have been married for over 30 years. They have a long history of faithfulness prior to starting Breakthrough in Christ. They served at Unbroken Chain Church, pastored by Dr. M.D. Lites in NYC with their four children. After relocating to central New Jersey with their family, Breakthrough in Christ was instated as a church and was welcomed into the international ministry Church of God, which is one of the oldest Christian movements.

OUR VALUES
JESUS
Our purpose is to share the hope and truth of Jesus and as followers, we are to live according to His example and teachings. COMMUNITY We prioritize authentic relationships and meaningful connections. We desire for our community to be known for faith, humility, respect, and love. |
PRESENCE
We believe where the spirit of God is there is freedom. We desire to create space to experience the presence of God who is the giver and and the source of a full life. MISSION We want to actively demonstrate self-sacrificial love by serving the people around us and beyond. We recognize that God’s Kingdom can be extended through all we do in our everyday lives. |
OUR BELIEFS
We are a Christ-Centered church that believes in the authority of the Christian scriptures and we hold to the essential Christian beliefs as best expressed in the ecumenical confessions of the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed.
About God: We believe there is one God, who has revealed Himself as our Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and as the Holy Spirit. He is both God and man. (Deut 6:4; Eph 4:4-6; Col 2:9; 1 Tim 3:16)
About The Bible: The Bible is the Infallible Word of God and the authority for salvation and Christian living. (2 Tim 3:15-17)
About Sin and Salvation: Everyone has sinned and needs salvation. Salvation comes by grace through faith based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Only through God’s saving grace and work in Jesus Christ can we be rescued, reconciled and renewed. (Romans 3:23-25; 6:23; Eph 2:8-9)
About Spiritual Gifts: The gifts of the Holy Spirit that we see on display in the New Testament are still active within the life of the church. These gifts did not end with the close of the New Testament or the death of the last apostle and should be practiced with order and direction. (1 Cor. 12:1-11).
About the Gospel: The saving Gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. We obey the Gospel (2 Thess 1:8; 1 Peter 4:17) by repentance (death to sin), water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (burial), and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit (resurrection). (1 Cor 15:1-4; Acts 2:4; 37-39; Romans 6:3-4)
About Christian Living: As Christians, we are to love God and others. We should live a holy life inwardly and outwardly, and worship God joyfully. (Mark 12:28-31; 2 Corinthians 7:1; Hebrews 12:14; 1 Corinthians 12:8-10)
About the Future: Jesus Christ will come again to the earth – personally, visibly, and bodily – to judge the living and the dead, and to consummate history and the eternal plan of God. (1 Thes 4:15-17; Rev 20:11-15)
